Membership in the Ann Lake Property Owners Association
Membership is open to riparian owners interested in protecting, preserving and continually improving the beautiful Ann Lake Watershed for present and future generations.
Your annual support is the lifeblood of our organization and is needed to keep ALPOA functioning. This support is critical toward moving forward and being successful in meeting ALPOA’s and our member’s needs.

Friendship, community and volunteerism are the pillars of our association.
Membership dues for the Ann Lake Association for riparian owners are $30 per year. Dues are not tax deductible. ALPOA is a 501c4 non profit. You help to support, through your annual dues, the important activities undertaken by the association that will help keep the Ann Lake Watershed as pristine as possible for future generations.

Association members and volunteers work together to maintain a strong organization that focuses on:
Water Quality To measure and help control pollution, and study ways to protect the environment and natural resources.
Water Clarity To check the clarity of Ann Lake with regular Secchi Disc readings.
Invasive Species Prevention To operate programs that help to protect Ann Lake from infestation by Eurasian water milfoil and other exotic invasive organisms.
Loon Protection & Monitoring To conserve and enhance the Common Loon population through habitat protection and restoration, and public awareness and education.
Distribute Information to Members To publish and distribute newsletters to members, and to keep the public informed about key issues affecting the Ann Lake area.
Monitor Laws To monitor existing and proposed township, county and state laws that affect our lakes and the environment.
Work with Village, Township, County and State Government To work cooperatively with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Conservancies and other northern Michigan Lake Associations.
Educational Courses To work with Benzie County’s marine patrol and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to offer educational courses for people of all ages.
Water and Boating Safety To promote water and boating safety, the Association placed a sign at the Boat Launch and will distribute good boating etiquette fliers for boaters and campers.
Swimmers’ Itch To continue to seek out methods of effectively controlling swimmers’ itch.
Promote membership and volunteering To conduct the ongoing responsibilities for maintaining a strong and effective Association for the Ann Lake area.
Finance Activities To finance all the activities of the Association and establish reserves to handle emergencies.
Endowment Fund To accumulate funds to ensure the preservation and enhancement of Ann Lake by means of visionary stewardship of the Ann Lake watershed.
Website To communicate and to make online operations more convenient for members. To share information about Ann Lake with the online community.
The Riparian Magazine a 4 time a year publication is available as a member benefit at a subsidized rate with early membership renewal.
The Board voted to raise the Annual Dues at the August meeting to $30.
This was due to the expanded services that have been provided to members & review of our financial reports.
